Hunting .....Uruguay - Gaucho Style

If you guessed Uruguay as my choice for hunting (duck, dove and Perdiz), you're right on.  There are several reasons most important is the volume and consistent good hunting experiences in Uruguay.  As more and more people look at international travel with disdain, I want to ease your mind and give you some good reasons why you should look at Uruguay and understand why it is just about as easy and cost just about the same to hunt in Uruguay as it does in the far reaches of the Dakotas.

First, to get to Uruguay.  The main international airport in Montevideo, Uruguay is serviced by American Airlines.  The American Advantage program is popular and if you need to add to your mile base of need a way to use your million miles, plan on the flight from Miami to Montevideo.  Miami? You say, wait, I'm from Texas and we fly out of DFW....of course using American, based there and best there.  Well, hang on.  Miami is currently the only city that has a direct flight to Montevideo, Uruguay.  The 767 plane departs at 11:10 PM in the evening, so plenty of time to get to Miami.  And hey, add some Florida fishing or beach time in Miami before your Uruguay hunt.  Just a suggestion.

You arrive into Montevideo and it is easy to clear customs and prepare to hit the fields the afternoon of arrival.  The time difference is only one hour ahead of the East Coast.

Perdiz hunting is a low volume but truly a great experience.  The work of the dogs and seeing the professional Uruguay hunting guides and then testing your shooting skills with the Perdiz makes for a great Upland hunt.

Uruguay has great cuisine and we know you've heard of wine in South America...well, Uruguay is full of vineyards and most of the wine stays in Uruguay, so enjoy the excellent wine of Uruguay.

Now, for the heavy hitting action.  DOVES!  You just have to book your flight to Uruguay to see the greatness of Uruguay dove hunting.  Unbelievable.  I'm short of words (!)  Just unbelievable.

The people of Uruguay are very welcoming as Uruguay has high literacy and many Uruguayans learn English in school and love to communicate with visitors in English as well as teach you some necessary Spanish.

Mas cartuchos!  Meaning MORE SHELLS!  Yes, you will need for the Uruguay dove hunting and duck hunting.

I hope this gets you excited as I love hunting in Uruguay and continue to go back and show bird hunters what hunting is about...birds, no limits, and ease of getting to the duck hunting blind or dove hunting field.

See you in the field....Los Gauchos Outfitters

It is finally Friday!  With most our readers experiencing triple digit Sahara like weather...oh, yes, the Sahara doesn't have humidity like many places in the U.S. ...Los Gauchos Outfitters is not ready to make enemies.  But the high today is 60..feels like 47 right now.  Yikes!  Had to be honest and let you know that duck hunting and dove hunting and cool weather in the midst of July can be done.  See how and why by viewing one of our many resource web sites on Uruguay dove hunting.

And while much of the news has focused on the high price for visiting South America (check out the bills and consequences of Mark Sanford's "hunting" trips...), Los Gauchos provides a reasonable if not very affordable way to travel to Uruguay for outstanding duck or dove hunting. Many of our destinations are perfect for the family (hint: bring your non-hunting spouse).

Los Gauchos likes the blogs and  book clubs to focus on how good the value for what you get in Uruguay is compared to the U.S. and definitely to any place in Europe and how nice the country, people, food, wine and hunting is...not some politician and their unpopular trip to Argentina.

So, enjoy your weekend, start looking at the calendar and contact Los Gauchos Outfitters with questions.  Pack a sweater and enjoy Uruguay and the bird hunting it offers!

Fireworks, Argentina and Breaking Hearts and Hunting Records....

The title will hopefully catch some readers attention.  Probably not those that look to Los Gauchos for their hunting and fishing resources and trip plans, but with the news and blogs and media outpouring this week Los Gauchos Outfitters is keeping up with the trends and current news stories.

First, the fireworks.  Many will be celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks, music, barbecues and family and friends.  For those 16 or so wingshooters and duck hunters who are staying warm and experiencing some outstanding hunting in Uruguay, you may also get to share in the festivities with fireworks and barbecues.

Argentina and Uruguay are famous for celebrating any and all holidays with fireworks.  The barbecues are also famous in South America and you will not see Oscar Meyer but fresh, premium beef and lamb and home grown vegetables cooked over an open fire or parilla.

Breaking hearts - this topic was a top media topic and associated with Argentina how could we miss using it?  Really, the only way to make this a good trendy piece of news is to report that the newly engaged Jonas brother is planning his honeymoon in Uruguay with Los Gauchos at one of our many Uruguay hunting lodges.....stay tuned.

Have a great holiday weekend!  From all your fans at Los Gauchos Outfitters
