Hunting .....Uruguay - Gaucho Style

If you guessed Uruguay as my choice for hunting (duck, dove and Perdiz), you're right on.  There are several reasons most important is the volume and consistent good hunting experiences in Uruguay.  As more and more people look at international travel with disdain, I want to ease your mind and give you some good reasons why you should look at Uruguay and understand why it is just about as easy and cost just about the same to hunt in Uruguay as it does in the far reaches of the Dakotas.

First, to get to Uruguay.  The main international airport in Montevideo, Uruguay is serviced by American Airlines.  The American Advantage program is popular and if you need to add to your mile base of need a way to use your million miles, plan on the flight from Miami to Montevideo.  Miami? You say, wait, I'm from Texas and we fly out of DFW....of course using American, based there and best there.  Well, hang on.  Miami is currently the only city that has a direct flight to Montevideo, Uruguay.  The 767 plane departs at 11:10 PM in the evening, so plenty of time to get to Miami.  And hey, add some Florida fishing or beach time in Miami before your Uruguay hunt.  Just a suggestion.

You arrive into Montevideo and it is easy to clear customs and prepare to hit the fields the afternoon of arrival.  The time difference is only one hour ahead of the East Coast.

Perdiz hunting is a low volume but truly a great experience.  The work of the dogs and seeing the professional Uruguay hunting guides and then testing your shooting skills with the Perdiz makes for a great Upland hunt.

Uruguay has great cuisine and we know you've heard of wine in South America...well, Uruguay is full of vineyards and most of the wine stays in Uruguay, so enjoy the excellent wine of Uruguay.

Now, for the heavy hitting action.  DOVES!  You just have to book your flight to Uruguay to see the greatness of Uruguay dove hunting.  Unbelievable.  I'm short of words (!)  Just unbelievable.

The people of Uruguay are very welcoming as Uruguay has high literacy and many Uruguayans learn English in school and love to communicate with visitors in English as well as teach you some necessary Spanish.

Mas cartuchos!  Meaning MORE SHELLS!  Yes, you will need for the Uruguay dove hunting and duck hunting.

I hope this gets you excited as I love hunting in Uruguay and continue to go back and show bird hunters what hunting is about...birds, no limits, and ease of getting to the duck hunting blind or dove hunting field.

See you in the field....Los Gauchos Outfitters

Duck hunting in Uruguay at the best lodges - Los Gauchos Outfitters

It is finally Friday!  With most our readers experiencing triple digit Sahara like weather...oh, yes, the Sahara doesn't have humidity like many places in the U.S. ...Los Gauchos Outfitters is not ready to make enemies.  But the high today is 60..feels like 47 right now.  Yikes!  Had to be honest and let you know that duck hunting and dove hunting and cool weather in the midst of July can be done.  See how and why by viewing one of our many resource web sites on Uruguay dove hunting.

And while much of the news has focused on the high price for visiting South America (check out the bills and consequences of Mark Sanford's "hunting" trips...), Los Gauchos provides a reasonable if not very affordable way to travel to Uruguay for outstanding duck or dove hunting. Many of our destinations are perfect for the family (hint: bring your non-hunting spouse).

Los Gauchos likes the blogs and  book clubs to focus on how good the value for what you get in Uruguay is compared to the U.S. and definitely to any place in Europe and how nice the country, people, food, wine and hunting is...not some politician and their unpopular trip to Argentina.

So, enjoy your weekend, start looking at the calendar and contact Los Gauchos Outfitters with questions.  Pack a sweater and enjoy Uruguay and the bird hunting it offers!

Fireworks, Argentina and Breaking Hearts and Hunting Records....

The title will hopefully catch some readers attention.  Probably not those that look to Los Gauchos for their hunting and fishing resources and trip plans, but with the news and blogs and media outpouring this week Los Gauchos Outfitters is keeping up with the trends and current news stories.

First, the fireworks.  Many will be celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks, music, barbecues and family and friends.  For those 16 or so wingshooters and duck hunters who are staying warm and experiencing some outstanding hunting in Uruguay, you may also get to share in the festivities with fireworks and barbecues.

Argentina and Uruguay are famous for celebrating any and all holidays with fireworks.  The barbecues are also famous in South America and you will not see Oscar Meyer but fresh, premium beef and lamb and home grown vegetables cooked over an open fire or parilla.

Breaking hearts - this topic was a top media topic and associated with Argentina how could we miss using it?  Really, the only way to make this a good trendy piece of news is to report that the newly engaged Jonas brother is planning his honeymoon in Uruguay with Los Gauchos at one of our many Uruguay hunting lodges.....stay tuned.

Have a great holiday weekend!  From all your fans at Los Gauchos Outfitters

Summer Heat and South America Duck Season--

Many waterfowl and wingshooting enthusiasts are trying to find the good in the summer heat. Well, just think of the good times many of the Los Gauchos clients are having in Uruguay (oh, did I mention the HIGH temp is about 55?) during the prime duck hunting season. Uruguay duck hunting season is in the middle of an amazing season. Lots of ducks, lots of shotgun shells, lots of opportunities (2 times per day in the duck hunting blind) to see and shoot ducks in Uruguay.

The Uruguay duck hunting season ends at the end of August and we are booking for 2010 season.

But, don't worry, if you schedule can't get you away until September or October..and in many areas it is still warm, Uruguay has dove hunting opportunities that are unbelievable.

See some of the action at Los Gauchos tv for the duck hunts that will have you packing your warm clothes today.

Flights are easy to come by out of Miami direct to Montevideo, Uruguay and again, the duck hunting in Uruguay is out of this world.

Check out more information and pictures about Uruguay duck hunting with Los Gauchos : Uruguay Ducks, Uruguay Duck Hunting, or Uruguay Hunting Outfitters.

Come join the fun in Uruguay for some duck hunting or plan to visit Uruguay this fall (Uruguay's spring) for dove hunting unlimited...lots of doves, unlimited shooting and great hunting group fun.

Happy Father's Day from Los Gauchos Outfitters and THANK YOU for being a DAD

George T Criddle - a dad
Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there and especially to those who share the sport of wingshooting, waterfowl hunting, and fishing with their sons and daughters.

Los Gauchos Outfitters continues to have the privilege of sharing the Uruguay duck hunting and Uruguay dove hunting with fathers and sons (and we do continue to see more daughters joining their dads in Uruguay for shooting sports...). What better way to promote and talk about the importance and the value of sharing the shooting sports and fishing sports with your dad or with your son and / or daughter.

Los Gauchos Outfitters had a few weeks with grandfathers, fathers, sons, son-in-laws all sharing the duck hunting lodge and creating memories of duck hunting that will last a lifetime. Our newest location in Colonia, Uruguay had the honor of hosting a young wingshooter who got to experience the Uruguay dove hunting with his dad for his 10th birthday.

Dads have such an important role and hunters and anglers get to see the spirit and role of a dad early on. From learning the skills and perfecting your shooting and fishing skills to learning the importance of safety and respect for the outdoors, your dad is the mentor most hunters and anglers remember. And while dads can be tough, the tough love is the best love. Dads are so important - the role of a man and the honor and respect for the outdoors that dads provide is something Los Gauchos Outfitters appreciates.

And finally to close a major accomplishment of GT Criddle (1939-2008), a terrific dad who had numerous major accomplishments from sports to military to flying to family. But, one of his most important accomplishments  "...raising great children that never let me down...".

And his accomplishment continues to be seen at Los Gauchos Outfitters with an owner who strives to work hard and provide the best service and example for all.

Los Gauchos Outfitters would like to take this day to thank George T. Criddle for instilling the example and words of "you can" into the owner, George W. Criddle, who sets a good example for all of us who share the honor of working and seeing his courage, hard work, and "CAN" attitude everyday.

THE GAUCHO of Los Gauchos Outfitters

George Criddle - THE Gaucho of Los Gauchos Outfitters

Los Gauchos Outfitters has been operating in Argentina and Uruguay for several years. But, who is Los Gauchos? And Uruguay? Where is Uruguay and duck hunting in Uruguay is it really that good?

Well, YES. Or as they say in Argentina and Uruguay, si claro!

So read on and visit some of the various websites that have good information about Uruguay duck hunting, Uruguay dove hunting and Uruguay hunting trips.

The duck hunting in Uruguay has been fantastic and as you can see from the super shooter above, the doves have been numerous (millions..to be precise) and all day everyday in Colonia, Uruguay.

The food and wine in Uruguay is outstanding and with hot summer weather that makes it hard to think to be outside for long, how does 40-60 degrees sound? Oh, don't forget the nice glass of red wine and the outstanding beef, lamb, and unbelievable dulce de leche deserts that are common in Uruguay.

Los Gauchos Outfitters is proud to offer destinations in Uruguay that include duck hunting - and first class duck hunting with loads of ducks and lots of fun for a July or August duck hunt! Hard to believe it can be done. So pack your bags, log onto American Airlines (currently the only airline that has a direct flight from Miami to Montevideo), and check out the packing list --hey, good reason to make a trip to Bass Pro, no?!?

So --everyone enjoy your weekend. Los Gauchos Outfitters is here..we enjoy our job and so we are here on the weekend - and with technology, we maybe in the duck blind or by the fire enjoying the South American cuisine. But, we will get right back to you!

Later!
